Gregory cumins is a french contemporary figurative painter mainly known for his portraits /a>. In 2005 he is awarded third prize at the BP Portrait award at the National portrait gallery in London / UK for his black portrait of Richard Deacon. He also receives the prix spécial du jury (special prize of the jury) at Montrouge's 50th contemporary art show (France). In 2006, he is again selected to be part of the BP competition and has his first solo show in Bertin-Toublanc's gallery in Paris / France where he shows a series of black paintings.

Gregory Cumins est un artiste peintre figuratif contemporain français. Diplômé de l'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts à Paris en 1999En 2005 il obtient le 3ème prix au BP Portrait Award 2005 de la National Portrait Gallery de Londres en Angleterre pour son portrait de Richard Deacon. La même année il reçoit le prix spécial du jury dit Prix Nicolas de Staël au 50ème Salon d'Art Contemporain de Montrouge en France. En 20026 il est de nouveau sélectionné pour participer au BP Awards. Il a également sa première exposition personnelle à la galerie Bertin Toublanc à Paris.
Description:
The paintings are neutral. Concerns of colour, size, framing, and style are absent, and the models are expressionless. Light becomes the major actor towards each painting's realisation. Varying in intensity, it enables a reading of the subject which itself changes. It is within this variation that the paintings find their identity.

Les tableaux sont neutres. Les notions de couleur, de format, de cadrage, de style et d'expression du modèle sont volontairement absentes. La lumière devient alors un élément essentiel dans la réalisation d'un tableau. En variant en intensité, elle permet une lecture du sujet plus ou moins prononcée. C'est dans cette variation que chaque tableau trouve son identité.
